Dan Garlen, BSEE, MCP, MCAD, MCSD.NET, MCT Dan Garlen wrote his first BASIC program on a PDP-8 using a teletype in the early 70`s. Pursuing his interest in technology he graduated Drexel University in 1980 with a degree in Electronics Engineering. Shortly thereafter, he purchased his first of many computers, an Apple II. During the mid 80`s Dan began his technical training vocation by teaching a class for a local computer store entitled "Know Your Apple". He continued through the generations of Apples and PC's from VisiCalc & Appleworks to Excel & Office. Dan joined Ohaus Scale as an Electronics/Software Engineer, programming in assembly language and BASIC, and designing hardware for microcontroller based weighing systems. As an Engineer who enjoyed speaking with customers � his responsibilities evolved towards Sales & Applications Engineering. After a reorganization in 1991, he and a co-worker left Ohaus to startup Kg Systems, where they continue to specialize in automated weighing and industrial control systems. From the introduction of the personal computer and the World Wide Web through the evolution of the software tools to use it - Dan continues to enjoy the ever-changing technologies and the challenge in teaching it to others. He has taught classes in: Computer literacy, PC hardware/electronics, web development, applications software, Visual BASIC and C#. He completed an intensive period of study in .NET leading to his certification as a Microsoft Certified Solution Developer (MCSD) for Microsoft .Net and as a Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT). Ever since then, he has been teaching Microsoft Official Curriculum in VB.NET, ASP.NET and ADO.NET.
